The European General Data Protection Regulation represents more than the worldwide leading systematic ensemble of rules, to protect the privacy individual rights. On one hand GDPR certainly is a new way of thinking organizing and behave, in order to defend essential rights, but on the other hand it also intends to promote free circulation of information and data: the key word is trust.
Archives should not only be aware of the opportunity that the technological evolution represents for them, but also of the kind of the new risks that our societies have to face. Because of their architecture, their reason to be and their (natural) evolution (and what they represent in our modern world), archives should define their role in avoiding any risk connected to what is called “profiling” (and it’s derivates).
This workshop invites broadcasters archives and other audiovisual archives to define common policies about the above matter.
